Elegant lady being all judgmental at laundry mat

I drew this little sketch one night, with no particular inspiration or intention.
Then it laid dormant for about a year before I discovered it again and thought, you know, I'll bet this would be fun to turn 3D!
So the journey began.

I loaded my scanned pencil sketch into photoshop
for some digital painting before I began sculpting with super sculpey clay, tin foil and craft metal.

After a few (!!!) hours of sculpting with super sculpy clay,
I popped this ol' gal into the oven to solidify her delicate features.
I began oil painting her head and later created her arms.

Girlfriend got her "hair did" and a makeover, then I gave her some meat on her bones with some quilt batting. Afterwards I washed, ironed and draped some fabric around her bust and used hot glue to secure it.

My little workspace with materials and tools

Creating the necklace, cooking the super scupley clay

Letting her dry out before the final touches

and....voila! My Fat Lady has come to life!

These are some "in progress" photos from this recent sculpture.
You can see how I've built up this figure from the original hand sketch on paper, all for the final product of dimensional illustration.
